Healthy Nails

Your nails are important part of your integumentary system and it should be taken care of as well. Your nails are important for your dexterity and they protect your fingers. Some ways you can take care of your nails include grooming them every so often, moisturizing them, and not abusing them. You can groom your nails by cutting the free edge away when it gets too long. Moisturizing your nails will keep them from getting brittle and dry. Abusing your nails by biting them, ripping them or picking at your cuticles are not ways to get healthy nails.

Your sweat and oil glands are a part of the integumentary system. And they do play a big role in your life, but how can you care for them? Well, the best way to take care of them is to take care of your skin first. If your skin is healthy, then your glands probably will be as well. A good and balanced diet with a lot of fruits and vegetables can also help keep your glands healthy. And like these glands, keeping your skin healthy will also keep your sensory recepetors healthy. If you want your receptors to be able to pick up those impluses then you cannot abuse your skin. Overexposure to sunlight can cause sun burns and those areas of your skin will lose their sensory. Too much physical damage to the skin can prevent you from being able to use your sense of touch.
